Namaste to all that read this:
My only child just graduated from high school, I just completed my undergraduate degree 6 months prior to her AND I have been sitting here thinking NOW WHAT?
I continually keep coming back to the words of the Dalai Lama,
""We are visitors on this planet. We are here for ninety, a hundred years at the very most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Try to be at peace with yourself and help others share that peace. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life."
So my road has lead me to Naropa, because strengthing my path in Buddhism is the road I need to take.
Here are my questions:
What is the job market like after graduating with a Master's from Naropa?
Are there internships, jobs, etc while attending school?
For financial reasons, I have to work (still have to put my daughter through college).
I have many questions, but I not sure what they are <giggle>, so any info or encouragement would be welcomed.

Re: Questions, Questions
Mon, August 1, 2005 - 12:21 AMI go to Naropa now, and it's the type of school that you get what you put into it. As far as internships, they have a person at the Arapahoe campus that can help with it for the Undergrads. I'm not so sure about the MA programs.
As far as working, you can find a job through workstudy which you appy for in your FASFA application. I did workstudy for the copy center and it was a cool job, but the drag was that it paid once a month! I was BROKE all the time.
FOr the most part Naropa has changed my mind and therefore my life. I just have problems applying the knowledge to my life. I"m also taking out hella loans just to go here.
The school the usual duality as most things in life, on one side it's nurtures your spirituality but on the other hand it lacks academia. Naropa also has diveristy issues, it's a big deal there, lots of meetings about it to make it better. I'm a hispanic female and there are few non caucasins on campus.
Uhm! I do dig my school. I just need to take the teachings and make them reality, and even if I still am procastinating then atleast I had great experiences and growth from Naropa.
I read The Art of Happiness and that book inspired me to go to Naropa. So atleast the Buddhist vibe is worth it all by itself.
Hope it helps
Don't pay attention to the shietza about "NoHopa" I used to say it but now I say it's not the school that gives no hope, it's your MIND! that fools us into thinking there is no hope.

Re: Questions, Questions
Wed, November 23, 2005 - 10:35 AMI had some questions too, and I emailed & spoke with an admissions counselor. The person I spoke to was very nice.
